Dovetail

Dovetail is a research repository designed to help teams analyze, organize, and share insights from user research. It provides tools for qualitative research analysis, making it easier to tag, categorize, and collaborate on research data.

Import and analyze interview recordings 

Our integration with Dovetail lets you seamlessly import recordings from UXtweak’s user interviews and usability tests directly to Dovetail with just a couple of clicks. This makes it easy to manage, analyze, and share valuable research insights—all in one place.

Here’s how to do it.

In UXtweak: 

To import your interviews into Dovetail, you’ll first need to export your recordings. There are two types of Live Interviews:

• Freeform Interviews
• Study Interviews

You can learn more about these interview types in the Live Interviews section of the documentation. The export process for each type is different.

Freeform Interviews 

1. Go to the Participants tab in the results of your Freeform Interview.
2. Select the recording(s) you wish to export.
3. Press the Export button and select Recordings as MP4.

• You can choose to export recordings to your device, Google Drive or OneDrive.
• Export to Google Drive and OneDrive requires you to enable an integration inside UXtweak. Learn how to enable Google Drive integration or OneDrive integration.

Study Interviews 

1. Go to the Respondents tab in the results of your Study Interview.
2. Select the recording(s) you wish to export.
3. Click Choose action from the Respondents selection tab
4. Select the Export videos action and press the GO button.

In Dovetail: 

To import the recordings to Dovetail:

1. Go to your Project dashboard and click New.
2. You can choose to upload files from your device or Import from one of your integrated cloud services.

That’s it! Your recording is now uploaded to Dovetail, ready for transcription and analysis. You can use Dovetail AI to summarize the content, generate transcript, or tag user feedback.

Embed UXtweak reports as PDF 

You can also easily embed your PDF study reports from UXtweak, making it easy for stakeholders to access and read them. Upon uploading to Dovetail, you can:

• Highlight key insights
• Tag and categorize data
• Summarize the report using Dovetail AI

Follow these steps to embed the UXtweak PDF Report in Dovetail:

In UXtweak: 

1. Go to the Export tab in the results of your UXtweak study.
2. Select what parts you want your report to have.
3. Click Generate report and wait a couple of seconds.
4. When the report is ready, click Download.

In Dovetail: 

In Dovetail, you have two options. You can either embed the PDF file directly, or you can upload it to any cloud service and embed it with a link.

Embed the report directly 

1. In your Project Dashboard click New then Choose files

2. Select the PDF report you wish to upload

3. Upload the report

Embed the report with the link 

1. In your Project Dashboard click New then Take notes
   • You can also embed the link to any other existing file in your project
2. Paste the link to your report to your note and wait for the preview to generate.
