In Mobile App Testing, respondents attempt to complete a set of tasks you assign to them. This section covers how to use the Tasks tab to:

  • Create tasks for your respondents to fulfill
  • Activate audio feedback for the Think-Aloud Protocol
  • Adjust the order and number of tasks respondents see
  • Create post-task questionnaires

Create tasks for your respondents to fulfill Copy link

  • The tasks you create should represent specific use cases of your app, website, or prototype.
  • To write a task, simply open a task and fill in the task text.
  • During the study, the UXtweak app presents tasks to respondents. Before the specified tasks, respondents always complete a simple warm-up task to get used to switching between the UXtweak app and the testing app, website, or prototype, so they don’t have to figure this out while solving actual tasks.
  • To insert more tasks into the Mobile App Testing study, click Add task.
  • By default, respondents can’t skip tasks. To enable skipping, check Allow respondents to skip tasks.

Activate audio feedback for Think-Aloud Protocol Copy link

  • The Think-Aloud Protocol is a user testing method where respondents narrate their thoughts while solving tasks. In UXtweak Mobile App Testing, you can record respondents’ voices.
  • By default, the Think-Aloud Protocol is disabled. To enable voice recording, flip the switch to turn Think-Aloud on.
  • With Think-Aloud enabled, respondents will be prompted to allow sound and screen recording at the beginning of the study.

Adjust the order and number of tasks that the respondents see Copy link

  • Unless task order is randomized, respondents complete tasks in the listed order.
  • To reorder tasks, simply drag and drop them to the desired position. Alternatively, use the Move up/down buttons under the ellipsis button.
  • To display tasks in a different order for each respondent, select Randomize task order.
  • To keep the first task static (e.g. to use it as an example), check Don’t randomize the first task.
  • If task order is randomized, use Number of tasks to show to a respondent to limit how many tasks each respondent sees from the total available.

Create post-task questionnaires Copy link

  • Aside from the surveys in the Questionnaire tab, you can also ask questions immediately after each task.
  • This is recommended for gathering immediate feedback to prevent important information about solving individual tasks from being mixed up or forgotten.
  • Question creation works the same as in the Questionnaire tab.
