In this help, you will be introduced to Filters and Segments and to ways how they can help you with creating and managing your target groups inside your database.
With the Own Database, you are able to use advanced filters to create your desired target groups with ease. When creating a filter, you can set up multiple conditions for any of the columns existing in the database, as well as any tag. The conditions can be combined using either the OR operator or AND operator. You can organize your filters into groups. This is especially useful if you want to target multiple target audiences at once. Simply create a group of filters for each audience and join the groups using the OR operator.
Each column type comes with specific list of conditions available:
Multiple conditions can be applied to one column.

Once you have your filter all set up, you can decide to save it as a Segment. Any unsaved filters will reset if you leave the page.
Segments are named and saved filters.
Create target groups using filters and save them as segments for later use. Click on segment to see all participants who fit the defined criteria. Segments can be edited at any time.
It is however important to note, that there may be some overlap between the Segments. Learn more about Segments in recruiting in our Recruiting with Own Database overview.
